Senior Project Worker - Trudy Procter

Trudy works full time for Kerrier On Track. Current projects that Trudy is involved with are below:

- Time for Me - This is an 8 session programme for Year 3 students. This programme is aimed at building confidence, self-esteem, awareness of issues around friendships, bullying, hygiene (personal and around the home) and safety (personal and around the home).

- Beanstalks - This is a 10 session programme for year 1 or 2 pupils aimed at building confidence, improve inturn taking, listening skills and co-operation through the media of play and puppets.

- Transition work - There are 3 components to this project. The first being the Year 6 groups. This is a 6 session programme working with children around the issues of going to a secondary school. Work is done exploring feelings, bullying, friendships, how everything changes in life and moving on to a different school. The second part of this project is Year 6 Class Talks. This is where Trudy visits all the Kerrier On Track Schools and talk to all the children who are moving up to Pool School through the use of a specially devised booklet and two year 7 students from Pool School. The third part to this project is the Transition Workshop which is held on the last Friday of the School Summer holidays. It is for all students transferring to Year 7 at Pool School. It is a fun day doing lots of different activities and its aim is to enable students from other schools to know each other a little, before the start of the new school term, and to familiarise them with their new school layout.

- Mentor Scheme at Pool School - through the year 6 group work and class visits, students are identified who may be more than generally worried about moving to Pool School and a trained mentor from Pool school is offered. Mentors are trained students who will arrange to meet their partner student and help them talk through any problems they may be experiencing around school. The common issues are school work, friendship problems and bullying issues. The link teacher at Pool School is Dene Williams who organises a lunchtime drop in, twice a week, for anyone in this scheme.

- Groups for Parents - 10 session programme looking at various aspects of parenting, mostly appropriate for parents of children up to adolescence. Groups are held every school term in various venues. See What's On page to find out when the next one is due to start.
